HTC Chief Executive Chou recently made a grand claim that they are only second to Google in being the largest Android developer. Speaking at a conference in San Diego he also claims to be one of the top five smartphone brands worldwide and in some countries they rank as high as 2 and 3. The Taiwanese phone maker shipped over 25 million smartphones in 2010 and continues to grow and already has sold 9.7 million smartphones in 2011. HTC according to a Canalys report is the biggest global supplier of Android phones. Although HTC is a leader as an Android supplier, Chou assured everyone of HTC’s commitment to produce phones which also support Windows Phone 7 and has already shipped 6 smartphones which run on Microsofoft’s newest OS.

Besides HTC’s claims and proclamations they also announced a new software developer kit which enables developers to create software for phones that can emulate the feel and look of the HTC interface.
